Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette revealed international teammate Olivier Giroud helped him to settle at the Emirates Stadium after his move from Olympique Lyonnais.

The 26-year-old became Arsenal’s club-record signing in the summer, making the £48m switch from Lyon. Lacazette has gone on to score six goals in his first 12 Premier League games, but he did admit he was nervous upon his initial arrival.

“When I arrived at Arsenal, I was a bit apprehensive as to what his reaction would be, but he welcomed me really, really well. I can only thank him as he’s helped me in everyday life, and I’m happy,” he said to Telefoot.

Lacazette also admitted he can improve upon his start in England. The French international believes he has developed at Arsenal in the months he’s been there, but isn’t resting on his laurels.

“I’ve not been too bad. It’s encouraging for the future. It’s a change from the French league. I think I’ve developed the most in my overall game, and physically in duels where I need to be more present than when I was in Ligue 1.”

He’s yet to be deployed in the Europa League for Arsenal, with Wenger ringing the changes for the cup competitions this season, but supporters are convinced Lacazette could be the player to fire the side to the top-four.

Lacazette has contributed a goal in three of his last four league games for the Gunners, keeping Giroud on the bench and used sparingly. Fans have hardly seen their three most expensive players line up together in the Premier League, but wins have resulted when they are together.

And while the French centre-forward may have been apprehensive in his early days at the club, he looks comfortable now. Here’s hoping that continues.
