Martin Keown thinks Reiss Nelson looks like a special talent.

The 17-year-old made yet another appearance for the Arsenal first team when he came off the bench against Cologne on Thursday night.

In the 23 minutes he got against the Germans, he showed off his dazzling footwork and almost made something from nothing with a mazy run late on.

He’s adapted to the role very well, and should become a better player for it

It was his eighth first team appearance for the club.

Martin Keown was impressed with his positivity and believes Arsenal have unearthed a special player.

“Famous victory for Cologne, let them take their night,” he said on BT Sport (via the Daily Star).

“They haven’t had too many good ones.

“But I think Nelson can be something special, little flashes there of brilliance.

“That was a great run, pity he didn’t score.”

Nelson has looked a bit restricted in the Arsenal first team, as he’s had to play as a right wing-back.

While he’s scoring screamers and solo goals for the youth team, he’s had to put in a defensive shift for the first team.

He’s adapted to the role very well, and should become a better player for it.

With Arsenal chasing the game against Cologne, he received a rare chance to show what he can do further up the pitch.

His next chance in the Arsenal first team will likely be against BATE Borisov in December.

That game is a dead rubber with Arsenal already confirmed as group winners, so hopefully that will liberate the Arsenal first team and we’ll see more individual skill on display.
