Martin Keown thinks that the North London derby will end in a draw, although he’s hoping there will be goals.

Keown thinks that the form of the two sides doesn’t really matter coming into the game, because a derby is a different kind of contest. He explained to the Daily Mail (via Daily Star): “I think this will be a draw, and if it is I’m hoping for a high-scoring 2-2.

“This kind of a game is a real leveller. Everything goes out of the window when Arsenal play Tottenham. These are games you have to play with your head, not your heart.

“This game comes at a perfect time for Arsenal to try to reignite their season. They will not be coming into this with any fear.”

There’s always a different atmosphere around a derby game compared to any other match in the Premier League calendar. At the last home game against Red Star Belgrade, there were empty seats, fans generally didn’t get very involved, and the team stumbled to a 0-0 draw.

I’d expect this to be completely different, as Martin is predicting. Every seat will likely be filled, and with pride on the line I expect the fans to try and drive the team on, hopefully to a win. A draw is the very least the Gunners need to aim for, but it wouldn’t get them back in the top four, or help them close the four point gap to Tottenham.

The team will need to turn up as well, but hopefully the confidence gained from a very positive international break, or the rest for those not playing, will help them to go into the match full of confidence.
