It’s probably not everyday that you get to nutmeg Arsene Wenger in training.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles can officially get to tick ‘nutmeg the boss’ off his bucket list after doing so during a training session this week.

In a video shared by Arsenal’s official Twitter account, the 20-year-old, who was messing around with Mesut Ozil at the time, tried to control a keepie-uppie. Instead, the ball rolled off and found its way between Wenger’s feet as the boss was chatting absentmindedly to Alexandre Lacazette.

Maitland-Niles’ teammates all tittered as it became evident that the youngster had indeed nutmegged Arsene Wenger.

The boss obviously saw the funny side, turning with a smile to see who had done it and saying, “Well done, well done.” At least, that’s what the subtitles on the short clip claim he said…

Maitland-Niles was once again in training with Arsenal’s first team, which seems to be standard procedure now.

Wenger has been playing the England u21 international as a wing-back this season. He’s made six first team appearances, including one in the Premier League. It may have been one minute against West Brom but it’s a step closer to a first team place.

Hopefully, Maitland-Niles will continue to progress and we’ll see him appear more and more. Even if that does mean embarrassing the boss in training.
