When BBC and BT Sport journalist Reshmin Chowdhury recently informed Arsene Wenger that she’s a Spurs fan, I don’t think she expected the response he gave.

While the bitter rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham is evident among fans and even players from both sides, it’s rare that the managers say anything particularly controversial or get involved in the mud-slinging.

However, when Reshmin recently informed Wenger that she supported That Lot, the Frenchman didn’t hold back.

The manager’s banter with Reshmin seems pretty typical of the man

“Really? You have an illness…” asked Wenger when Reshmin informed him that she supports Spurs.

“I can assure you Arsene, I’m in great health,” she replied.

To which the boss responded: “Yes but you are ill on the inside!”

Wenger has been Arsenal manager for 21 years. Therefore, he probably feels that rivalry deeper than most. All you had to do was look at his reaction after the final whistle on Saturday when his side won the North London Derby 2-0 and you could tell how much it meant to him.

The manager’s banter with Reshmin seems pretty typical of the man.

Wenger is known for being charming, witty and warm. Therefore, it’s hardly surprising that he reacted the way he did to her admission, which was actually quite brave considering her team’s recent defeat…

The boss is probably still in a good mood from the Derby last Saturday, which almost everyone thought Arsenal would lose.

Instead, we won 2-0 with goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez.

I know you already know that. I just like writing it.
