Arsenal are reportedly ‘tracking’ RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi.

Arsenal are said to be keeping an eye on Gulacsi.

According to ESPN, the Gunners, as well as Chelsea, were scouting the 27-year-old goalkeeper during Leipzig’s 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich on Saturday.

The Gunners are reportedly hoping to make the shot-stopper Petr Cech’s replacement. The 35-year-old has under two years left on his current deal and, let’s be honest, he was never supposed to be a long-term solution. Therefore, it does seem pretty clear that Arsene Wenger is at the very least in the market for a new pair of safe hands.

Whether he’s genuinely interested in the Leipzig man, however, is another matter.

Gulacsi failed to make a single senior appearance during the entire five years he was at Liverpool (2008-2013).

The Hungarian was instead sent out on various loan spells to Hereford United, Tranmere Rovers and Hull City to gain first team experience. However, in the end, Liverpool let him leave and he joined Red Bull Salzburg on a free in 2013.

Gulacsi has until 2020 on his contract with Leipzig, who he joined in 2015, and he’s made 63 appearances for the Bundesliga team. In that time, he’s kept just 15 clean sheets, which is only one more than Wojciech Szczesny kept last season alone, and he’s shipped 75 goals.

He may not have the best stats but if it’s between Gulacsi and David Ospina, having some fresh blood in the side might be nice.
