Arsenal have decided to sell Mesut Ozil in January, despite claims just a day ago that a new contract could have been on the horizon.

Stories about Ozil leaving Arsenal are becoming a daily thing. It was only yesterday the Daily Star were pushing a story about the 29-year-old signing an extension at Arsenal, on the condition that he’d be given Jack Wilshere’s no. 10 shirt.

Today, though, they’ve got a big exclusive about Ozil: Arsenal are going to sell him for £30m in January. They claim the Gunners have decided to ‘reluctantly’ cash in on the German international rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season.

This isn’t the first time the possibility has been brought up, nor is it the first time Manchester United have been linked. However, the Daily Star appear to be confused.

Their report talks up United signing him in time register him for the Champions League knockout rounds, but on Monday they were reporting that United had been put off by his financial demands. That was also a Daily Star ‘exclusive’.

So, either they have information from two different sources, or they’re taking some shots in the dark. I’ll let you be the judge. This entire saga has been contradicting itself for some time, and I daresay nobody but Arsenal and Ozil know what’s going to happen.
