Manchester City are the latest Premier League team to reportedly show interest in signing Schalke’s Leon Goretzka.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and now Manchester City are all allegedly keen to sign Goretzka, whose contract with Schalke runs out at the end of the season.

The midfielder has also been linked with Juventus and Bayern Munich. However, reports from Spain are apparently insisting that the 22-year-old has already agreed a deal with Liverpool as they want him to replace Emre Can.

Pep Guardiola, on the other hand, supposedly wants Goretzka for his project over at City.

Goretzka is currently enjoying a brilliant season with Schalke, scoring four goals in nine Bundesliga appearances, and despite currently being injured, it’s no wonder he’s said to be attracting some of Europe’s top clubs.

The Germans signed him from VfL Bochum in 2013 for between £2.6m – £3.5m and it’s fair to say that they’ll probably make a considerable profit on this if they choose to cash in on the Germany international in January.

Arsenal could be eyeing Goretzka as a replacement for Mesut Ozil, who’s out of contract himself at the end of the season. While it’s still possible that the playmaker could stay, as time goes by it’s looking less and less likely.

Likewise, the 22-year-old could choose to stay at Schalke, who are currently second in the Bundesliga table.
