Arsenal will have plenty of competition for Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka, according to reports.

The 22-year-old will be available on a free transfer in the summer should he not extend his contract with Schalke.

Naturally, such a talented player is interesting many clubs around Europe.

Arsenal were heavily linked during the summer, and have been continued to be linked with the Confederations Cup winner this season.

According to the Mirror, though, Tottenham, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also interested.

They report that Tottenham have had scouts at every Schalke game this season, while the player himself would prefer a move to Barcelona or to Bayern.

Goretzka has been in good form this season, scoring four goals and getting one assist in 10 appearances for Schalke.

He’s a player in high demand following his impressive performances for Germany at the Confederations Cup in the summer.

A sturdy box-to-box player with an eye for goal, he could be an excellent addition to the Arsenal midfield.

With doubts over the futures of Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil, Arsenal could soon be in need for a new midfielder.

However, with Barcelona and Bayern being such attractive destinations, Arsenal may have to pull off a minor miracle to convince him to join.
