Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Hamburg are all reportedly interested in Ajax wonderkid Frenkie De Jong.

The 20-year-old is having a good season in the Ajax midfield, providing six assists in 10 league appearances, averaging one every 79 minutes. Having come from the esteemed Ajax academy, interest in him is bound to be high.

According to Voetbal International via talkSPORT, Arsenal are joined by Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Hamburg in showing an interest in the Netherlands u21 international.

De Jong played for Willem II as a youngster before joining Ajax’s second team in 2015. He made his first-team debut last season against Panathinaikos in the Europa League, with the midfielder’s league debut coming in February as a late substitute against Sparta Rotterdam.

This season, he has received more appearances, but they’ve mostly come from the bench. You have to wonder if it’s too soon for him to make the switch to a big European team like Arsenal.

He’s yet to really establish himself at Ajax, and would struggle for regular game time in the Gunners’ midfield. In my view, if Arsenal are looking for midfield reinforcements, they are more likely to look at experienced players rather than a younger one.
