Arsenal are reportedly among several top European clubs interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg striker, Dimitri Oberlin.

Oberlin, who’s currently on loan at Basel, is currently having a decent season over in Switzerland, having netted five goals in 15 appearances, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

According to Transfermarketweb, Arsenal, as well as Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid, Juventus and Roma, are all said to be interested in the 20-year-old.

Some of Europe’s top clubs have even allegedly been scouting him at Basel. However, we might all just be wasting our time since his loan side have the option to sign him for just £3.5m in the summer, which I imagine they will if he continues to bang in the goals.

Oberlin, who came through the ranks at FC Zürich, is expected to get his first senior call-up for Switzerland soon, having been capped for their u21 side three times and scoring twice.

Last season, the striker went out on loan to SC Rheindorf Altach and scored nine times in 20 appearances. Therefore, his current success doesn’t seem like a fluke.

Saying this, although Oberlin is clearly talented, with so many clubs reportedly interested in signing him, I’m not sure how much of a chance Arsenal stand of landing him. Even if we are known for helping to develop youngsters.
