Arsenal have been alerted by Inter Milan putting Joao Mario up for sale, and the Gunners could look to sign the £26m-rated midfielder as a result.

The Portuguese midfielder has struggled to make an impact in Italy and could soon be on his way out of Inter Milan.

He joined them from Sporting Lisbon last summer in a deal worth £40m. Now, according to TMW via Daily Star, he could be allowed to leave for just £26m in January.

Eager to spin this onto some sort of transfer story, the Daily Star have plucked Arsenal’s name out of thin air and have decided we’d be interested in buying him.

The Gunners may be in need of another creative midfield if and when Mesut Ozil leaves the club. However, Mario has been far from impressive since making his big move from Sporting Lisbon, in my opinion.

This season, the 24-year-old only made three starts for Luciano Spalletti’s side. He’s appeared seven more times from the bench.

It’d be no surprise if Inter were looking to offload, especially if they have other options in midfield. However, it’s likely that Arsenal will be looking at other targets who could actually improve their starting eleven.
