Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Lyon midfielder, Nabil Fekir.

According to an EXCLUSIVE from the Daily Star, Arsenal are closing in on Fekir.

The Gunners allegedly want to sign the £60m playmaker as a replacement for Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

The 24-year-old obviously played with Alexandre Lacazette when the striker was still at Lyon, so presumably would have an understanding of the way his compatriot plays.

Fekir, who still has until June 2020 on his contract with the Ligue 1 side, has scored an impressive 12 goals in 15 games this season. Plus, he’s provided three assists and created 22 chances. To put this into perspective, that’s more than Alexis (20) and less than Ozil (30).

Sounds promising. However, there are a couple of issues. The France international has been at Lyon since 2011 and came through the ranks at the club. He also had a stint there when he was even younger from 2005 – 2007. Therefore, it’s likely that he has a bond with the French side. Would he even want to come to Arsenal?

What’s more, would Lyon let him go? He’s a top player and after selling Lacazette to the Gunners for £52m over the summer, would they be willing to allow another star to walk out the door? I’m guessing that’s where the alleged £60m price tag comes from.

Of course, Arsenal may not have any interest in Fekir at all. Although looking at options seeing as Alexis and Ozil could both be off is probably sensible.
