Shakhtar Donetsk could reportedly be looking to sell their winger, Bernard, in January instead of allowing him to leave on a free at the end of the season.

Bernard’s contract situation at Shaktar is reportedly attracting the attention of the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and, of course, Arsenal.

The winger is apparently set to run down his contract with the Ukrainian side, which means that they could attempt to cash in on him in January. It’s suspected that they’ll ask for just £11.5m, which is peanuts in today’s market when it comes to forwards.

Shakhtar signed him for double that from Atlético Mineiro four years ago.

The 25-year-old has scored six goals in 18 appearances across all competitions so far this season, which is already just one less than he netted over the entirety of last term.

With Alexis Sanchez almost definitely leaving either in January or on a free at the end of the season, finding a replacement is imperative, and while Bernard isn’t on the same level as say Thomas Lemar or Julian Draxler, it’s understandable that we’re getting linked with him.

Plus, for just £11.5m, the Brazil international could be a great bit business if we make other additions. Not that Arsenal need to be penny-pinching.
