Dele Alli is set to miss England’s friendlies against Germany and Brazil due to a hamstring problem, which could also leave his involvement against Arsenal in doubt.

Alli missed Spurs’ match against Crystal Palace thanks to the injury, and the FA have confirmed his withdrawal from Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad, according to ESPN. He’s expected to be out for two weeks, with the North London derby a fortnight away.

If this was an Arsenal player picking up an injury before a big game, I’d say there’s no chance of them being back in time. However, this is Spurs and their players never seem to miss more than a couple of games for minor injuries and a couple of months for major ones. So I fully expect Alli to make it back just in time. Mauricio Pochettino reportedly does too.

The 20-year-old scored two against Real Madrid this week, and also scored against the Gunners in the last North London derby. Although he wasn’t particularly involved that day, he still popped up with the goal, so it’d be nice to avoid the same thing happening again on November 18.

It’ll also be interesting to see what happens with the England squad. Southgate could look to call another player up to replace Alli, in which case Jack Wilshere may potentially be involved.
