Arsène Wenger is interested in a swap deal for Julian Draxler, if Alexis Sanchez wants to leave in January according to reports.

Alexis’ future seems set to lie in Manchester at the moment, but according to the Daily Star, Wenger holds out hope of getting a player in return when the Chilean does go.

Raheem Sterling seems to be off the table (especially after Wenger’s recent comments about the 22-year-old being a diver), but in January Arsenal will reportedly reignite their long-rumoured interest in Julian Draxler.

This would offer the Gunners a chance to replace Alexis, and end fan fears of the 28-year-old playing for a direct rival.

Certainly, I’d rather see Alexis alongside Neymar and Mbappé in France than winning titles in Manchester but this all seems a little too good to be true, and we know that swap deals rarely happen.

Arguably, Sanchez would find it easier to get into the PSG team. City already have Sergio Agüero and Gabriel Jesus up front, and a ridiculous number of young, promising attacking players around them. PSG have Neymar, Mbappé and Cavani, but behind them the squad looks a lot thinner.

However, personally I can’t see it happening.

I think Sanchez has made up his mind, and a year of watching City dominate the league isn’t going to change it.
