Joe Willock scored a late equaliser for Arsenal u23s as they drew 2-2 with Chelsea.

The u23 squad resumed their Premier League 2 campaign on Saturday and fought back to claim a point against Chelsea.

Arsenal were able to call on a number of players who were involved in the matchday squad against Norwich in the Carabao Cup. Jordi Osei-Tutu and Josh Dasilva played as wing-backs, while Joe Willock started in midfield. Chuba Akpom and the hero of the night, Eddie Nketiah, started in attack. Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles were both rested.

The hosts had a number of notable names in their squad. Charley Musonda, who featured for the first team in pre-season, started in attack alongside Kylian Hazard, the younger brother of Eden. Clarke-Salter, who won the u20 World Cup with England in the summer, started in defence.

Chelsea took an early lead through Taylor-Crossdale, but were pegged back just four minutes later by a strike from Romanian midfielder Vlad Dragomir. The hosts re-took the lead in the second through Dujon Sterling, and looked good for a win.

With 81 minutes gone, keeper Deyan Illiev, continuing his return from injury, had to be replaced by Finnish keeper Hugo Keto.

It was in the 89th minute that Joe Willock, who is having a breakthrough season at the club, netted the equaliser and helped Arsenal come away with a valuable point.

Arsenal are currently fourth in the Premier League 2 First Division, with 16 points from nine games. Chelsea, meanwhile, are languishing down in 10th with just one win all season.
