Watch: Mesut Ozil shines

Mesut Ozil may have only scored once and assisted twice in eight appearances this season but he’s still given us plenty of lovely football to marvel at.

Ozil managed to net his first goal against Everton and has provided two assists (Everton and Swansea) this term. While the playmaker obviously got off to a slow start, now that he’s starting in a front three of himself, Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez, he appears to have hit his stride.

The 29-year-old has also created 30 chances – 28 of which have been key passes. To put this into perspective, Alexis Sanchez has created the second-most chances in the side with 18.

Ozil’s completed 360 passes over the eight games he’s featured in – 86% of his total. 55.2% (235) have been forward.

Now that the German’s fully fit, let’s hope he can continue to improve and reach his best again.

Ozil has under a year left on his current Arsenal contract so our time getting to watch him play might be limited.

The player himself seems a little happier now. Whether this is because he’s playing alongside Alexis and Laca or whether he’s playing for a new contract, I don’t know. We’ll have to see.

For the moment, we might as well enjoy marveling at his skills while we still can.
