Alexis Sanchez and David Ospina both played key parts in their countries’ matches on Friday night, for different reasons.

David Ospina started in Colombia’s match against Paraguay, which his team lost 2-1.

Colombia were winning until the 89th minute, at which point David charged out, failed to clear the ball, then fell over whilst Cardozo fired into the unguarded net.

Then, a couple of minutes later, Ospina rushed out to block a cross, but only succeeded in palming it into the path of an opponent to concede again.

Definitely a night to forget for the Colombian, and his team are now only one point clear in the qualifying positions with one game to go.

Alexis Sanchez, meanwhile, was the saviour for his team.

Chile needed a win to jump into the qualification spots, but went into the final 10 minutes level with Ecuador.

Then, in the 85th minute, Alexis came up with yet another key goal for his country, tapping home a rebound to send the fans wild.

Chile won the match 2-1.

Hopefully this is a sign he’ll be back scoring key league goals for Arsenal soon.

Shkodran Mustafi didn’t feature in Germany’s 3-1 win over Northern Ireland, and despite 15 international qualifiers being played across Thursday night and Friday morning, those were the only three with Arsenal players involved.
