Video: Mavididi scores two as England u20s win 4-0

Stephy Mavididi took advantage of the break from club football to score a brace for the England u20s against the Czech Republic.

Mavididi is currently on loan from Arsenal at Preston North End, and the youngster has struggled to get any real chances for the Championship side so far.

The 19-year-old has made six appearances for Preston, which sounds like a fair amount, but he’s only made two starts and in both of them he was subbed off early. In total, the young striker has played just 183 minutes for his loan side.

So whilst some Arsenal players were forced into limited action over the break, or no action at all in the case of the senior England internationals, for Mavididi this was a chance to get 90 minutes under his belt.

Stephy was given the full match up front for the England youth side, and rewarded manager Keith Downing’s decision with two goals.

You can watch both goals below.

The first was a confident penalty, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 2-0 (1:04 in the video).

Mavididi then followed this up with a second on 75 minutes to secure the result, converting a low cross with a clinical near post finish (3:22).

Hopefully he’ll now be given a couple more chances for his loan club.
