Sevilla will reportedly step up their pursuit of Sander Berge in January after having an offer of €12m rejected by Genk during the summer.

While Arsenal and Everton have both been linked with Genk midfielder Sander Berge, Sevilla appear to be in the driver’s seat.

According to Spanish outlet, Estadio Deportivo, the La Liga team will step up their pursuit of the 19-year-old in January and will probably make an improved offer after having their alleged bid of €12m knocked back in the summer.

The Gunners were said to be willing to pay £18m for the Norway international, despite him only moving from Valerenga for £1.8m in January. However, a move obviously never materialised.

Berge has made 10 appearances across all competitions for Genk so far this season and has picked up two yellow cards already. Last term, he made 27 appearances. However, he’s yet to score or assist for the Belgian side.

The teenager spent his youth career at Norwegian club Aska before signing for Oslo-based side Valerenga in 2015.

He’s also been capped six times for his senior national team.

Berge’s contract with Genk runs up until June 2021, so it’s understandable that they’d want to hold out for a decent price considering they’ve not even had him for a year. They obviously think he’s worth it.
