Alexis Sanchez says that he thinks Alexandre Lacazette is very talented, and thinks that the two players have a good understanding already.

Alexis and Lacazette have only started three games together so far, so it’s hard to draw too many conclusions about how they’ll work as a pair, but so far all three matches were wins for the Gunners, so it’s hard to complain.

Alexis told Arsenal Player: “When he has a goalscoring chance, he is a good finisher. He’s a classic striker. He was a successful player in France, and the two of us work well together. He’s an excellent player.

“I believe we have [a good understanding]. We haven’t played that many games together but when we have, I like how he plays. He finds space and understands the game well. He is very talented.”

In their three starts together, Alexis has one goal and two assists, whilst Lacazette has three goals. In Lacazette’s other five starts this season, he only has two goals, so it does seem like the Chilean is helping to bring the best out of him.

Of course, you can’t ignore Mesut Özil’s influence in the Everton match as well, particularly as he was the one providing the assist for the French international. But it does seem like Alexis and Lacazette have a good understanding of how to make space for each other, when to run, and so on, in my opinion.

I think it’s probably too optimistic to hope that this could change Alexis’ mind about leaving the Gunners at the end of his contract, however, but at least it’s a good sign that he can enjoy his time on the pitch before the year is up.
