Report: Arsenal ready to bring in Ademola Lookman to replace Alexis

Arsenal are reportedly keen to bring Everton forward, Ademola Lookman, on board in order to replace Alexis Sanchez.

The Sun claim the Gunners are interested in Lookman as they continue their search for a suitable replacement for Alexis, who’s probably going to leave north London as soon as Arsene Wenger and Steve Bould take off his shackles.

The 19-year-old only joined Everton from Charlton in January. However, Ronald Koeman signed Gylfi Sigurdsson for a club record of £40m (plus add-ons) over the summer and has since been deploying the ex-Swansea ace in Lookman’s preferred left-wing position.

Therefore, it apparently shouldn’t be too difficult for Arsene Wenger to convince the England u21 international to return to London.

The Toffees signed Lookman for £11m plus add-ons so he’s expected to set Arsenal back around £15m if they’re interested.

The teenager has made just two starts for Koeman’s side this term and has only appeared eight times in total since the move.

He still has four years left on his current deal, however. So the Everton boss might decide to give him more of a chance in the near future.

Obviously, Arsenal replacing a player of Alexis’ calibre with Lookman would be a bit of a dumb move. Not just in terms of ability but experience. Although considering we’re apparently allowing the 28-year-old to leave on a free next year, we may not have much of a choice.
