Arsenal could be without Aaron Ramsey for their game against Watford.

According to journalist Ben Dinnery (via 101 Great Goals), Ramsey was absent for Arsenal’s Friday training session.

No reason has been given for the absence. The midfielder was away on international duty with Wales, but there were no reports of an injury or illness that would rule him out.

It’s possible that Ramsey was simply allowed to rest following a physically and emotionally draining international break.

Wales’ World Cup campaign came to end after they lost 1-0 to the Republic of Ireland in Cardiff.

A win would have been enough to secure Wales a play-off spot. Defeat allowed Ireland to leapfrog them into second place.

Ramsey also has a tendency to pick up hamstring injuries, and may have been rested to decrease the chance of another.

There are now, naturally, doubts about Ramsey’s involvement against Watford.

He’s played in every Premier League game for Arsenal so far this season and has shown signs of good form.

Should he be unavailable, Mohamed Elneny would likely take his place in midfield.

Francis Coquelin has also returned from injury after several weeks out with a muscle injury he picked up in the 3-0 win over Bournemouth.
