Mesut Ozil has reportedly been telling his teammates that he’s signing for Manchester United.

Ozil has been linked with a move to United where his former Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, is in charge.

According to the Daily Mirror, the playmaker has told his Arsenal teammates that he’s reuniting with his old coach, presumably on a free at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has under a year left on his current deal and it’s looking increasingly likely that he won’t extend. The German is allegedly asking for £350k-per-week in wages, which the Gunners can’t stretch to.

The rumours linking Ozil to United started weeks ago but quietened down after journalist Duncan Castle insisted that while Mourinho is a fan of the midfielder, he doesn’t want to sign him.

Something tells me that if Ozil is genuinely pushing for a move to the Red Devils next summer, Arsenal will try and sell him in January instead. As an English team, United can’t start talks with the Germany international until his contract has expired, whereas foreign teams can contact him in January.

If the Gunners don’t want him signing for a rival, selling him to the highest bidder in January will probably be the best move.
