Mesut Özil, Sead Kolašinac, Nacho Monreal and Alexis Sanchez have all featured in various team-of-the-week articles, after Sunday’s 5-2 win over Everton.

Özil was the sole Arsenal entry in Garth Crooks’ BBC team of the week, and suddenly the ex-Spurs striker has joined the group of pundits asking why we ever doubted Ozil in the first place.

Crooks said in his article: “At this point I have to ask myself, ‘how can a player of Ozil’s obvious class be so easily dismissed?’

“He was outstanding against Everton and, while his critics will say you have to wait too long to see a top-class performance from him, I would respond that when he does perform it’s almost certainly worth the wait.”

Meanwhile, two Arsenal players made the Daily Star‘s team, with Nacho Monreal and Alexis Sanchez both finding a place. Both players scored in the 5-2 win, and Monreal put in a very good defensive performance until a late slip up allowed Everton a consolation goal. Alexis also added an assist for Mesut Özil’s first goal of the season.

Finally, Jamie Redknapp’s Team-of-the-Week found a place for both Ozil and Sead Kolašinac. It’s no surprise to see the former make another appearance, given he was on another level against the Toffees. In fact, it’s more surprising that he didn’t make it into the Star’s team, but I guess some publications are less willing to admit when they’ve got it wrong on a player.

Meanwhile, Kolašinac put in yet another solid performance for the Gunners. The free transfer has undoubtedly been the bargain of the season so far, and hasn’t ever looked particularly poor.

On this occasion, I personally don’t think he was anything more than solid, making one tackle, winning three aerial duels and adding an interception, clearance and block. But perhaps Redknapp is just enjoying the Bosnian’s consistency in recent weeks.
