Mesut Ozil does not have the qualities to play for Inter Milan, according to Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini.

Ozil has been linked with January move to Inter Milan, with the Serie A side reportedly looking to improve their attack. However, according to Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini, the German doesn’t have the required skills to play in Luciano Spalletti’s system, reports the Daily Star.

“I think in January a midfielder with attacking quality will come in,” he told TMW Radio. “It’s about whether Suning will have the chance to invest or not in January. If this is not the case then they will find an internal solution or a player with a low economic outlay again.

“Ramires would be an option. Ozil? He does not seem to me to have the characteristics suitable for [Luciano] Spalletti’s game. He does not come back to help the midfield. This is certainly something Inter will do in January.”

Ozil’s defensive qualities have come under scrutiny ever since he’s joined Arsenal. There’s a belief that he doesn’t work enough for the team, nor does he play with enough discipline.

Despite that, Ozil is a player who has played several times for a hard-working, pressing Germany team, and was a regular for Jose Mourinho, one of the most defensive managers around. Ozil is out of contract in the summer, which has sparked rumours that Arsenal could sell him when the transfer window re-opens in January just to get some money for him.

The 28-year-old is currently recovering from a knee injury and was absent for Germany’s recent World Cup qualifiers. He also missed the wins over West Brom and Brighton the week before the international break. Ozil could return to Arsenal action when they travel to Watford on Saturday.
