Arsenal beat Everton 2-0 on Sunday evening under interim head coach Ismael Garcia.

Arsenal Women obviously didn’t allow the sacking of Pedro Martinez Losa last week to effect their performance in the FA WSL on Sunday as the Gunners managed a 2-0 victory over Everton LFC.

Despite the Toffees getting off to the stronger start, Arsenal netted their first in the 23rd minute. 21-year-old Dutch international, Vivianne Miedema, scored a thunderous strike off the crossbar.

Everton goalkeeper Lizzie Durack did her best to keep the Gunners out, keeping out Beth Mead early on, Jordan Nobbs after the opening goal and Miedema a couple of times.

The Toffees were denied an equaliser as the referee spotted an infringement on Sari van Veenendaal.

Mead finally doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 78th minute when Durack, who was fantastic up until this point, fumbled the ball into her own net.

The 2-0 win comes over two weeks after the Gunners thrashed the London Bees 7-0 in the Continental Cup. Their last WSL match was three weeks ago against Bristol City and resulted in a 1-1 draw.

Their latest win pushes them up to fourth in the WSL 1 table but they’re still five points behind Manchester City and Chelsea, who are flying this season.

Both teams have 100% win rates and Chelsea haven’t conceded a single goal over the four games played.

They’re going to take some beating this term but if Arsenal can continue fighting for wins under new management, at least there’s a chance.
