The Arsenal youngsters will have another chance to impress as Norwich City visit the Emirates Stadium in the League Cup this week.

Despite having played on Sunday, Arsenal are back in action on Tuesday night as they play the Canaries in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal will undoubtedly rotate their entire squad again as they did in the third round against Doncaster and in the Europa League.

That will mean further opportunities for the likes of Rob Holding, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Reiss Nelson, and Joe Willock, as well as the chance for several other young players to come off the substitute bench.

They may find themselves up against much stiffer competition this time as Norwich come into game off the back of good form. The Championship side are unbeaten in their last eight games, winning five in the process, and look set for a promotion charge under new German manager Daniel Farke. They come into the game fresh of a derby win over rivals Ipswich.

Key to their success has been the form of 20-year-old attacking-midfield James Maddison. The youngster has four goals and two assists in 14 appearances for the Canaries and has formed a decent partnership with striker Cameron Jerome. Portuguese striker Nelson Oliveira is also a threat, having scored five goals in nine appearances.

Norwich, though, aren’t the most prolific team around, and will be relying heavily on counter-attacks and set-pieces. Arsenal will have to avoid complacency if they want to prevent an unwelcome upset from occurring. The game against Doncaster in the previous round was a much closer tie than anticipated due to Arsenal’s lack of effort and experience on the pitch.

That a number of the players who will feature on Tuesday have played a few games together already should help Arsenal put on a more cohesive showing. The “B” team has played together for four games now and should be confident after winning each one. Their latest victory in a hostile stadium in Belgrade will have done their confidence and morale a world of good.

The eleven that featured against Everton on Saturday may be rested. In their place, we may see Mathieu Debuchy, Mohamed Elneny and Rob Holding form the back three again, with Maitland-Niles and Nelson returning as wing-backs. Willock and Coquelin are expected to partner up in midfield, while Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud could lead the line.

There could also be a place in the team for Alex Iwobi, who was an unused sub against Everton. Eddie Nketiah, Chuba Akpom, Marcus McGuane, Josh Dasilva and Ben Sheaf, who made his debut against Red Star, could feature on the bench.

It’s unlikely to be the most thrilling encounter, but another Arsenal win will be useful towards maintain the positivity around the team and ensuring future opportunities for the youth and fringe players to play.
