Alexandre Lacazette has joked that he will ask Antoine Griezmann to join Arsenal.

Lacazette was speaking to Match of the Day magazine about his brief time in England and his close friend in the France national team, Antoine Griezmann.

On Griezmann, Lacazette said (via the Daily Star): “Yeah, we are very good friends and have lots of fun. Our nicknames for each other are Griezzy and Lacaz. If Griezzy visits me in London, I’m going to ask him to sign for Arsenal!”

If Arsenal are looking for a ready-made, top quality replacement for Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez, then they don’t need to look much further than Antoine Griezmann.

However, paying what Atletico Madrid want and then convincing the Frenchman to join the club will be something else entirely.

Lacazette is currently looking to win a spot in the France starting eleven and to partner Griezmann at the World Cup.

Olivier Giroud has that spot, despite being behind Lacazette in the pecking order at Arsenal.

All Lacazette can do is score as many goals as he can and hope Didier Deschamps gives him a chance. He currently has four goals so far this season, but is lagging a bit behind in the race for the Golden Boot.

The 26-year-old has acknowledged that the biggest difference between Ligue 1 and the Premier League is the number of quality striker he has to compete with.

“The main difference between here and France is there are A LOT of very good strikers here – Kane, Lukaku, Aguero, Jesus, Vardy, Morata,” he added.

“It’s going to be a challenge!”
