Arsene Wenger will apparently start Laurent Koscielny against Watford on Saturday.

According to the Daily Mail, Koscielny will return to Arsenal’s starting line-up against Watford on Saturday.

The centre-back hasn’t played since the Gunners beat West Brom at the Emirates on 25 September due to a recurring Achilles problem flaring up again.

Kos missed France’s 2019 World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Belarus so it’s apparently hoped that he’s had enough rest to be able to step in for Shkodran Mustafi.

The German pulled up in the 36th minute of his country’s 5-1 win over Azerbaijan on Sunday night. It’s since been discovered that the 25-year-old’s hamstring tear could mean that he’s out for over a month.

Calum Chambers, who’s just signed a new contract with the Gunners, is suffering with a hip injury so is also out of the running to start against the Hornets.

In addition to Nacho Monreal, this leaves just Rob Holding and Per Mertesacker fit. Therefore, if Kos is able to step into the starting line, that would be a massive help for Wenger’s side.

The 32-year-old’s Achilles problem has been an issue for a while. It has to be closely monitored and he receives daily treatment for it.
