Jack Wilshere is playing better than ever before in training.

That’s according to Martin Keown, who claims that people “behind the scenes” believe Wilshere has never looked better as an Arsenal player.

Wilshere has been playing well for Arsenal during their Carabao Cup and Europa League matches.

He’s started in three of those four cup matches this season so far, and has produced some quality moments in each of them.

Following another decent showing against Red Star on Thursday, Keown told BT Sport (via the Sun): “They’re saying behind the scenes Jack is now playing better than ever before in training.

“He’s got to announce his career is back open again.

“We know the talent’s been there for years, he’s now just got to do it.

“This is a big enough platform to prove he can get into this first team.

“He doesn’t need to go on loan. Arsenal can meet his expectations but he needs to stay fit and well.”

Wilshere could have left Arsenal in the summer transfer window but ended up staying at the club.

His contract expires in the summer, and the player himself has admitted he would like to stay at the club.

Performances in the cup games should help him get back into the Arsenal first team.

He’s yet to return to Premier League action, though has been on the bench a couple of times.

He was due to make a late appearance against Watford last weekend until a late injury to Laurent Koscielny saw a change of plans.

His next opportunity to shine will probably come against Norwich in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
