Carl Jenkinson has returned to Birmingham City after Arsenal oversaw his shoulder surgery but he’s still on the road to recovery.

It’s been revealed that Arsenal oversaw Jenks’ recovery after he dislocated his shoulder while on loan at Birmingham City. The injury required surgery. However, the 25-year-old has now returned to the Blues to continue his rehabilitation.

“He is just back here continuing his rehab,” said Steve Cotterill, who took over from Harry Redknapp in September. “He is not all of a sudden going to turn up on the team sheet. I would ask me in about a month’s time on that.

“He’s making progress but it’s slow progress.”

The right-back is no stranger to being sidelined, which is a shame. In 2015/16, he spent 254 days out of action after he tore a ligament in his knee while on loan at West Ham.

Jenks hasn’t played for the Gunners since November 2016 and even then, he only made a total of five appearances last term.

It’s hard to see the defender and life-long Gooner staying at the club he supports past next summer. Although we’ve said that before.

The Englishman’s contract expires in 2020. However, as a professional footballer who’s basically not even going to be making the senior squad, you have to imagine that he’ll push for a move.

This summer, Jenks was linked with moves to Cagliari, Sassuolo and Hellas Verona, as well as Swansea, but he apparently wouldn’t budge over his wages, which is pretty disappointing from him if true.
