Alex Iwobi reckons that Arsenal need to be more consistent if they’re going to win the title.
Following a brilliant individual performance against Brighton, Iwobi admitted that Arsenal need to become far more consistent if they’re going to win the title.
Iwobi’s comments aren’t exactly anything new. Arsenal have struggled with stringing an entire season of strong performances together for a decade now.
This term, we started terribly, losing 4-0 away to Liverpool in our third league match, but have improved. Most seasons, however, we’ll start off well before dipping after Christmas and attempting to claw our way back into the top four come May.
This year, it obviously wasn’t enough.
In an ever-changing league, it’s hard to remain consistent throughout the entire season. The difference is, most clubs will lose once or twice and immediately regain their footing. When Arsenal stumble, we take around two months to get back up again. And therein lies the problem.
Fortunately, since the Gunners lost 4-0 at Anfield, we’ve bounced back and have managed to win all but one of our matches since.
Individually, Iwobi’s not had the chance to get involved too often. The 21-year-old’s only made three Premier League appearances so far. However, his goal against Brighton was needed.
The forward’s pass accuracy has been high – 91% – and he’s created five chances.
