Alex Iwobi has revealed that Thierry Henry still gives him advice.

Despite no longer working as a coach at London Colney, Arsenal legend Henry apparently still gives Iwobi advice.

“Thierry Henry, definitely,” Iwobi told FourFourTwo Magazine when asked about his Arsenal idol.

“The goals he got, the player he was – and he is still advising me today.”

Henry coached at London Colney for a while before he decided to focus on his career as a Sky Sports pundit. The 40-year-old now works alongside Roberto Martinez as assist manager of the Belgium national team.

The ex-forward’s job at Arsenal was helping out the attacking youth players, which Iwobi would have certainly fallen under. Therefore, it makes sense that he’s still in contract with the 21-year-old.

Iwobi does struggle in front of goal and while he’s only young, he recognises that as an attacking player this is definitely something he needs to improve.

So far this season he’s found the back of the net once in the Premier League in four appearances. He also provided an assist against FC Cologne in the Europa League.

Last term, however, he only managed four goals and eight assists in 39, which isn’t a complete disaster but you can understand why he sees this as a key area he needs to work on.

Despite Arsenal’s other attacking options, such as Alexis Sanchez, being superior to the young Nigeria international, Iwobi is the future of the club. He’s come through the ranks and has heart. He also adds plenty to the side regardless of his stats.

Hopefully Henry’s advice helps.
