Shkodran Mustafi is a doubt for Arsenal’s clash against Watford on Saturday and Gooners aren’t happy.

Mustafi limped off in the 36th minute of Germany’s 5-1 win over Azerbaijan on Sunday night, which has left Arsenal fans wondering who on earth Arsene Wenger’s going to field at centre-back against Watford at the weekend.

The Germans have already qualified for next year’s World Cup in Russia, so the clash against Azerbaijan was practically a friendly. Therefore, losing another centre-back to injury for no good reason has understandably irked most Arsenal fans.

Laurent Koscielny is already a doubt since his dodgy Achilles is playing up and Calum Chambers is sidelined after injuring his hip in the first half of the Gunners’ League Cup clash against Doncaster Rovers.

Rob Holding is inexperienced and what little we’ve seen of Per Mertesacker this season suggests that he’s pretty much already retired. Although these two are the most likely to feature.

While Mustafi hasn’t been the best player this term, at least he was another body at the back.

Who knows how Arsenal will line up against the Hornets on Saturday. Considering how many players Arsene Wenger has been playing out of position this season, we could see Alexis Sanchez start at the back.

Thank goodness for Nacho Monreal.
