Arsenal put together a comprehensive victory over Everton on Sunday. Surprisingly, Everton’s main shirt sponsors seemed as happy about the win as anyone else.

Arsenal fans were of course delighted to see the Gunners finally win 5-2 away from home. More than that, the nature of the victory brought a lot of joy to supporters, with Alexis, Lacazette and Özil all getting on the scoresheet, and a three-goal margin that could’ve been even greater.

But one Twitter account you wouldn’t have expected to see celebrating the win was that of Everton’s shirt sponsor SportPesa. Nonetheless, they seemed more than happy to celebrate the Toffees’ loss, reports the Mirror.

The backlash from Everton fans forced the company to delete the tweet, but supporters were still far from happy.

The trouble with big gambling accounts on Twitter is that they’re all after exposure and publicity and generally aren’t tied to a specific club. So they’ll happily pander to whichever fanbase might give them retweets, likes and replies.

I guess when you spend so much time jumping on the bandwagon of whichever team is doing well, it’s easy to forget that you’re supposed to be the main sponsor of one of them. I’m sure the bands of angry Everton supporters on social media won’t let them forget again any time soon.
