Arsenal beat Sunderland 2-0 on Monday night with goals from Vlad Dragomir and Chuba Akpom.

The Gunners chalked up another win against Sunderland on Monday evening during their Premier League 2 clash at the Emirates.

After Mathieu Debuchy had an offside goal ruled out before the break, 18-year-old Dragomir found the back of the net just after half time. It’s the first time the midfielder’s scored this season.

Akpom, who was instrumental in the first goal, doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 77th minute from close range.

The 22-year-old will probably be hoping his performance against the Black Cats prompts Arsene Wenger to give him a chance for the first team on Thursday during Arsenal’s Europa League clash against Red Star Belgrade.

Francis Coquelin, who’s been sidelined with a hamstring injury, also made his return.

The 2-0 win means that Arsenal remain third in the Premier League 2 table having won five and drawn two. Everton are second with 15 points – only one above the Gunners – and Liverpool are top with 18. So, it’s still pretty close.

Sunderland, meanwhile, are bottom after registering just one win.

While it was a reasonably straight forward victory for Arsenal, they still needed a performance after their 4-2 loss to Everton. Job done.
