Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering an approach for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, with a view to adequately replacing Ousmane Dembele.

Alexis is being linked with just about any big club around Europe as his contract expires in the summer. According to Don Balon, Borussia Dortmund are the latest club to register their interest in the 28-year-old.

The report states that Dortmund want a star player as a replacement for Ousmane Dembele, who joined Barcelona last summer. However, they fail to mention two important points about Dortmund.

One is that they already signed Andriy Yarmolenko from Dynamo Kyiv to replace Dembele. The other is they prefer to sign younger players on smaller wages, and would be incredibly unlikely to meet Alexis’ high wage demands.

The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, while AC Milan, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been reported as interested parties. The Chilean will have his pick of clubs to choose from, either in January or in the summer.

There have been reports of Arsenal potentially selling in January in order to secure a fee for him while they can.

The Gunners had the opportunity to sell Alexis for £60m to City on the last day of the summer window but opted to keep him due to being unable to secure a replacement.
