Borussia Dortmund have reportedly joined in the race for Schalke midfielder, Leon Goretzka.

Dortmund, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are all keeping an eye on Goretzka at Schalke, claim Bild (via talkSPORT).

The 22-year-old’s contract with the Bundesliga side runs out at the end of the season and he doesn’t appear to be any closer to signing an extension. This has supposedly led some of Europe’s biggest clubs to circle with even Bayern Munich said to be interested.

Dortmund’s representatives are apparently keen to start talks with his people in the coming months.

Goretzka has been at Schalke since 2013 when he joined from VfL Bochum.

This season, the Germany international has managed to score three goals in eight Bundesliga appearances.

He can play in central midfielder or a more attacking role and is obviously highly-rated.

Whether all these big clubs are actually interested or not is another matter.

It’s possible that his people could have put their feelers out to a bunch of clubs knowing that their client isn’t going to stay at Schalke. Perhaps they want to see what their options are before putting pen to paper and getting Goretzka a better deal. It happens.

Or, of course, all these clubs COULD be interested. We’ll have to wait and see.
