Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani reportedly wants to join Manchester City, which could throw a spanner in the works for Alexis Sanchez, who also allegedly wants to work under Pep Guardiola.

Corriere dello Sport claim Cavani wants to sign for City and if Pep decides to go ahead with a move for the striker, he would theoretically no longer need to sign Alexis.

PSG were previously said to be interested in signing the Chilean as a replacement for 30-year-old Cavani, so this would work out fine for the Ligue 1 giants and Arsenal. However, Alexis might be miffed that he missed out on his preferred destination.

City and PSG are both apparently ready to pay £20m for the 28-year-old in January after the Manchester team allegedly had an offer of £60m accepted by Arsenal in August. However, the deal didn’t go through after the Gunners failed to secure Monaco’s Thomas Lemar as Alexis’ replacement.

Alexis has under a year left on his contract with the Gunners so if they want to cash in on his, January is their chance.

Cavani has three years left on his deal with PSG and has already scored 11 goals in 11 appearances (two assists) so far this season.

Alexis, meanwhile, has scored once in the Europa League.

If the Uruguayan really does want to move to City, I know which one I would pick.
