Former Bournemouth teammate, Harry Arter, believes that Jack Wilshere brings ‘something different’ to England’s national team.

Arter has heaped praise on Wilshere, who he played alongside at Bournemouth while Jack was on loan last season, amid speculation that Gareth Southgate could give the 25-year-old a surprise call-up for the World Cup next year.

“When I look at England’s midfielders at the minute they are all good, but Jack brings something different the midfielders they have,” Arter told talkSPORT.

“If it wasn’t for his injuries, there is no doubt in my mind he would be an England regular. Once he gets a run of games, people will see how much of a good player he is.”

Arter’s Republic of Ireland made it through to the qualifying play-offs after their surprise 1-0 victory over Wales on Monday. However, the Three Lions earned their automatic qualification with a 1-0 win over Slovenia a week ago.

Wilshere was missing from Southgate’s squad, as were Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck, the latter of whom was injured.

While the England manager hasn’t ruled out calling up Wilshere for the World Cup itself in Russia next year, he’s admitted that it all depends on the midfielder’s fitness at the time. We all know how injury-prone the Englishman is and he’s yet to return to Arsene Wenger’s starting Premier League line-up, let alone his country’s.

However, as Arter says, Wilshere gives England something different and I imagine Southgate is genuinely going to consider bringing him along if he’s able to.

At the end of September, Frank Lampard wrote his column for the Evening Standard, that the Three Lions are ‘crying out’ for someone like Wilshere.

Hopefully, the midfielder can stay fit and perhaps he’ll get that call-up.
