Eddie Nketiah’s Wikipedia page was updated by some excited Arsenal fans on Tuesday night, after the 18-year-old scored two goals to turn a League Cup loss into a win.

The young Gunners was making his senior debut at the Emirates, and came on as a substitute with just five minutes to go.

Just 10 seconds later, he had his first goal, scoring almost immediately after the restart, and in extra time he found the winner to send Arsenal to the next round.

Arsenal fans were understandably excited about seeing an 18-year-old youth product suddenly burst onto the scene with a couple of goals, and one or two went to Wikipedia to update his page with Eddie’s latest achievements.

Perhaps calling Eddie “the greatest player of all time” and changing his middle names to “Pele Maradona Ronaldinho Kaka” might seem a bit far, but you can’t really blame Arsenal fans. It’s not often you get to see an academy product have such an immediate impact in the senior team.

Besides, on Tuesday night it felt like Eddie could do almost anything. His first goal was just about being in the right place at the right time, but the second was a fantastic leap to meet the corner. He then followed that up by leaving a Norwich defender for dead and forcing a good save, before almost curling one in with his weaker left foot late on.

If he can carry that confidence into his next senior matches, with the fans on his side, I think he could easily start to edge closer to the first-team.
