Spurs fans getting excited about a draw at the Bernabeu were reminded by Arsenal fans what happened when the Gunners made the trip to Madrid.

Arsenal have only played one match away to the Spanish giants, and Thierry Henry scored to give them a 100% record in Madrid. Meanwhile, Spurs’ draw means they’ve now failed to win against Los Blancos in three away attempts, and five attempts in total.

So whilst the Tottenham fans were tweeting about a Harry Kane goal that wasn’t actually Harry Kane’s goal, Arsenal fans were reminding them about what happened when their club record goalscorer made the trip.

It was quite the moment for Arsenal fans. Henry scored a wonderful solo goal, and the defence held out over two legs to send the Gunners through to the quarter finals of the competition.

Meanwhile, Spurs held out for 15 minutes before Serge Aurier brought down Toni Kroos and Ronaldo converted the resulting penalty. The Telegraph called the draw historic.

Of course, Arsenal fans can’t get too cocky. Tottenham are in the Champions League whilst the Gunners are heading off to Serbia for Europa League action on Thursday.

However, it’s good to remember that Tottenham at their best still can’t match that of their North London rivals.
