The fan who received Jack Wilshere’s shirt after Sunday’s 5-2 win over Everton has claimed his memento was confiscated by stewards.

Following Arsenal’s 5-2 victory over Everton on Sunday, an Arsenal fan ran onto the pitch to celebrate with the players. His reward was Jack Wilshere’s shirt, handed to him by the player himself, and what he held aloft as he was escorted away by stewards.

As it turns out, the fan didn’t even get to keep the shirt and was left unrewarded for his pitch invasion. “I ran onto the pitch at the end of the game to celebrate and shook hands with some of the players,” he said, as reported by The Sun.

“The stewards came over and restrained me and I was walking off when Wilshere shouted. I turned around and he was laughing saying ‘what a guy’ before giving me his shirt. All the Arsenal fans cheered and I walked off with the police. I complied with what they were telling me to do.

“Obviously, I didn’t want to lose Wilshere’s shirt and shoved it down my trousers. The stewards managed to rip it out, though. I’m absolutely gutted. I know I am going to get a big fine and I haven’t even come away with the shirt.”

In the end, he’ll just have to be content with the fact that Arsenal won a game away from home in the Premier League. Everton were in poor form and there for the taking, and Arsenal eventually delivered a convincing display.

Goals from Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette, Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez helped Arsenal to a 5-2 victory. Jack Wilshere also made his first appearance in the Premier League this season when he came on as a late sub for Lacazette.

He went on to assist Ramsey for the fourth goal of the game. Wilshere has put himself back in contention for a spot in Arsenal’s first-team due to his good performances in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.
