Arsenal are reportedly keen to make Marc Overmars their Director of Football, and the 44-year-old could bring two players from Ajax with him, should he make the switch.

According to the Express, Overmars is one of many candidates to replace Arsenal’s former transfer negotiator Dick Law, who recently parted company with the club. The Gunners have also been linked with former Barcelona Sporting Director Raul Sanllehi.

Should Overmars become Arsenal’s new Director of Football, Mundo Deportivo report that he could bring Ajax duo Kasper Dolberg and Matthijs de Ligt to the Emirates. Barcelona are reportedly also keen on the Ajax pair, particularly Dolberg as a potential long-term replacement for Luis Suarez, but they also have RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner on their shortlist.

Arsenal supporters have long wanted a Director of Football to help manager Arsene Wenger with the negotiating of contracts and talent scouting. There have been criticisms of the long-serving coach that he’s struggling in the transfer market and has been taking his eye off the ball with so many players running down their current deals.

Overmars, if appointed by Arsenal, would likely aid in transfers and the contracts of existing players. The Gunners have five players out of contract in the summer, two of which are Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, players signed for a combined total of nearly £80m.
