Arsenal considering approach for Alvaro Odriozola

Arsenal are reportedly considering making a move for Real Sociedad right-back, Alvaro Odriozola.

According to Calcio Mercato, the Gunners are eyeing Odriozola as Hector Bellerin’s replacement.

The 22-year-old was said to be trying to push through a move to Barcelona over the summer.

While most of us assumed it was mostly one-way traffic with the Catalans seemingly getting up to their usual tricks, the BBC’s David Ornstein later claimed that the right-back did indeed want to leave. Apparently, get got back from the u21 Euros and told Arsene Wenger he wanted out.

Therefore, even though Barca signed Nelson Semedo from Benfica instead, Bellerin could theoretically try and move again either in January or next summer.

However, let’s not forget that Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy will most likely leave Arsenal soon as well.

Jenks is currently sidelined after dislocating his shoulder while on loan at Birmingham and Debuchy is playing regularly… for the Gunners’ u23s.

21-year-old Odriozola still has five years left on his contract with Sociedad and has made 10 appearances across all competitions for the La Liga side this season. He’s also provided three assists.

The full-back recently picked up his first cap for the senior Spain team during their 3-0 win over Albania. He even managed to get an assist for Thiago Alcantara’s goal.
