Arsenal are reportedly leading Atletico Madrid in the race for Trabzonspor’s Abdulkadir Omur, a teenage winger who has been tipped for a bright future.

According to Turkish site Ajansspor, Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of the 18-year-old and wants to add him to Arsenal’s youth set-up. Atletico Madrid are also interested, but the Gunners are believed to be leading the race.

Omur is a right winger who can also play in the centre of the park. He made his Trabzonspor debut in 2016, and has since made 12 first-team appearances for them, scoring once and assisting twice.

Five of those appearances have come this season already, showing that he’s made a full first-team breakthrough and is set for many more minutes.

If he does receive more first-team football in Turkey, the move to a big European club like Arsenal or Atletico Madrid wouldn’t make a huge deal of sense in my opinion. Being just 18, there’s plenty of time for Omur to develop his game and then get a big move.

Omur has recently been called up to the Turkey u21 squad, having played various times for all of Turkey’s age groups. He had played 10 times for their u19s.
