Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez could return to the starting line-up for the trip to Everton.

Usually, predicting Arsenal’s starting line-up after a Europa League game is easy enough. With the whole matchday squad rotated, it’s simply a case of the rested players returning to the team.

This week, it’s a little tougher, if only because Arsene Wenger has found one reason or another to not play Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette together. The trio are fit and ready to play and, in normal circumstances, would surely play together. Lacazette’s place in the team is a certainty, and at least one of Ozil and Alexis will have to feature following the injury to Danny Welbeck. That just leaves what to do with Alex Iwobi. The Nigerian international is playing well enough, and Wenger could use his work rate as an excuse to leave Ozil out of the team again.

Else where, picking the team is a more straightforward affair. Petr Cech will keep his place in goal, and will be guarded by a back three of Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Nacho Monreal. Mertesacker should continue to deputise for the stricken Shkodran Mustafi after he was rested for the Europa League game against Red Star Belgrade on Thursday. Hector Bellerin and Sead Kolasinac will return at wing-back.

In midfield, it’ll surely be Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey again. Francis Coquelin has only just returned from injury, while Mohamed Elneny played on Thursday as a centre-back, and could be kept fresh for the Carabao Cup in mid-week. There are calls for Jack Wilshere to keep his place, but the 25-year-old will likely be placed on the bench again as Wenger continues to manage his fitness.

Provided there are no late injuries, Arsenal’s team should be:

Cech – Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal – Bellerin, Xhaka, Ramsey, Kolasinac – Ozil, Alexis – Lacazette
