Arsenal legend Ian Wright and Tottenham’s Tim Sherwood both gave their predictions on whether Arsenal or Spurs would finish higher in the Premier League this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports via HITC, Ian Wright backed Arsenal to turn things round from last year season, predicting: “Arsenal (to finish higher).

“If the result versus Chelsea was anything to go by, they can do a lot better. I’m going to go with Arsenal to finish ahead of Tottenham of course.”

However, former Spurs manager Sherwood disagreed. He responded: “Not a chance. Arsenal are chasing Tottenham. The tables have turned now.”

Tottenham are currently ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League table, but have only been tested by Chelsea at home, and they lost. Meanwhile, Arsenal have played Liverpool and Chelsea away – and lost one out of two. So, realistically there isn’t much to split the two sides at the moment, in my opinion.

Spurs have matches against Real Madrid and Dortmund away whilst Arsenal are facing BATE Borisov and Red Star Belgrade, so the Gunners have more chances to rotate early on and it shouldn’t affect results in Europe.

Progressing through the competition would lead to an extra knockout round compared to their North London rivals – if Tottenham actually make the knockout rounds – however.

As long as Arsenal keep up their post-transfer deadline form, and Spurs continue their league form at Wembley, the Gunners should have no problem regaining that top spot in North Londo, I believe.

Alternatively, if Tottenham manage to finish above the Gunners more than once every 20 years, then we can talk about the tables having turned.
